No machinery, no overhead. How TD Interiors delivers high-quality interior projects on time, every time.
David Koster watched his previous employer collapse under the weight of machinery, personnel, and overheads. When he started TD Interiors, he made a deliberate choice: no production facility, no equipment, just two people, two laptops, and Cutr. A year on, he delivered a full canal house renovation in Amsterdam in four weeks flat, during summer.

Meet TD Interiors
TD Interiors is a two-person interior design and build studio based in Amsterdam, founded by David Koster and his co-founder Matthijs. With over 14 years of combined experience in designing, producing, and delivering interiors, they offer complete project solutions: from 3D design and measuring through to production and turnkey installation.
Their model is built around one principle: one party to communicate with. Clients should be completely unburdened from first conversation to final installation. TD Interiors handles everything in between.
They work primarily in high-end residential, alongside offices and commercial spaces. Their portfolio covers kitchens, walk-in wardrobes, wall panelling, room dividers, and full interior fit-outs.
What they do not do is manufacture. That is not an oversight. It is the foundation of how they work.
The decision that changed everything
Before TD Interiors, David worked at a larger interior production company. He watched it go under.
"At the height of the company, I think we were with around twenty people. You have to have quite a large building. You have stockpiles. It's quite an investment. And that is mainly what went wrong with the previous company."
When he and Matthijs decided to start fresh, they drew a clear line.
"From the start, we said: we don't want to invest in any machinery."
"We don't want to invest in a large manufacturing space or whatever. We just need an office. We just need our laptops. And that's how we're going to proceed."
Cutr was central to that decision. David and Matthijs were among Cutr's earliest users, back before the platform existed.
"We were both CNC operators and we both knew how to draw and how to put ideas into actual working CNC data fast. We knew the limitations and benefits of the processes. So that was very helpful for the developers of Cutr in the early stage."
The logic was straightforward: established production partners with the people, the space, and the machines already in place.
"If we had to do that for ourselves, we would have had to have an insane amount of money to even start. And then you have to hopefully have enough customers to keep the bell running."
Three years in, the strategy has proven right.
"We see nowadays that there is quite a low demand for production facilities, but there's a really high demand for guys that are actually on the workflow."
What Cutr actually saves
David is precise about what Cutr does and does not do for his business.
"It's not so much the time that we save. You move your problem to someone else, and then they will fix it for you. So I have time for other things. It's not so much that you're saving time because I have a production partner, but it's more that I don't have to do it myself and I don't have to invest in machinery."
What it does save is headaches.
"If I would limit myself to one production partner or two production partners, I would be just another guy. I will be at the back of the line if there are some other jobs for those guys as well. If I'm using Cutr, you can just easily switch to another production partner that has time, and then my project is first in line."
"If I'm using Cutr, you can just easily switch to another production partner that has time, and then my project is first in line."
And it saves him from his inbox.
"I use Cutr because I can quite easily upload my design, choose materials, go back and forth, and have a clear platform that I can always go back to read communication so that I don't have to dive into my email, which has thousands of emails."
"The platform itself is the biggest asset."
The result is a business that can commit to timelines it could not otherwise guarantee.
"It saves me a lot of headaches. I need to meet my deadline. Can you please make sure it's six weeks instead of ten? Cutr can do that."
The project: Canal house, Amsterdam
About a year ago, TD Interiors took on a full interior renovation of a canal house in Amsterdam. They were the main contractor for the entire interior: kitchen, walk-in wardrobes, wall panelling, and spray-painted MDF sliding doors used as room dividers. The theme throughout was walnut: melamine fronts, veneer walk-in, walnut wall panelling.
The client handed David a fixed budget and a free brief. Because TD Interiors controlled the full renovation, they eliminated the most common project headaches upfront. Light fixtures, wall sockets, skirting boards, windows in the wrong place. All resolved before production began.
The canal house had 3.40 metre ceilings. In the walk-in wardrobes, they used electrically operated clothing lifts to make the upper storage reachable. Practical thinking built into every design decision.
"Everything looks nice, but it has to be practical. That's really important."

The project ran during summer. Standard production lead time: eight to ten weeks.
"It was in the summer which is always a bit slow because that's the time that you clean out your shop and stuff like that. Cutr’s network was able to do it immediately."
"Everything was delivered within 4 weeks. It was crazy."
No construction project is without its bumps. David is clear-eyed about that. Human error and important details getting lost in communication are hard to avoid. When the veneer finish on a small number of pieces was slightly off, Cutr’s production party responded quickly through the platform and immediately took responsibility.
"They just took it back and sent another one or two pieces. That was dealt with really nicely."
A separate issue arose with the sliding door room dividers. The production partner did not incorporate the rail system into their drawings, so the pre-finish for spray painting was not to TD Interiors' standard.
“We said, 'Hey, these doors need to be fixed.' After a week they sent another pair. It was dealt with appropriately."
Both issues resolved smoothly. Project delivered on time.
"I cannot think of a project that we did with Cutr that wasn't like that."
What comes next
David now recommends Cutr to colleagues in the industry, including those who do not need full production outsourcing.
"I said to one of my colleagues: just check out Cutr. Because even if you don't need the production, you can use them for quotation. See how is this drawing. Am I on the right track? Maybe I can order the panels or whatever. It's a great way of having a partner in your company."
For anyone weighing up the model TD Interiors is built on, the case comes down to three things.
Access to 250+ production partners, so your project never stalls. Being tied to one or two suppliers means joining the back of their queue. With Cutr's network, there is always a partner with availability. Deadlines stay intact.
"If I'm using Cutr, you can just easily switch to another production partner that has time, and then my project is first in line."
No facility, no overhead, no compromise on quality. TD Interiors produces high-end residential and commercial interiors without owning a single machine. Cutr's vetted network makes that possible. The capital that would have gone into a production facility stays in the business.
"We don't want to invest in any machinery. We don't want to invest in a large manufacturing space. We just need an office. We just need our laptops."
A platform that reduces communication errors before they become costly mistakes. In construction, human error is inevitable. What matters is catching it early. Cutr centralises all project communication, drawings, revisions, and sign-offs in one place, so nothing gets lost in an inbox and everyone is working from the same version.
"Most mistakes are made between people, not because it's a hard project, but mainly because people don't communicate well. The platform itself is the biggest asset."
And beyond the business case, it is the right way to work. Local production partners, shorter supply chains, less freight, less waste.
"It's one of the best ways to go to a more economical, more ecologically friendly solution for interior production."
"We don't want shipping containers to be flown all over the world just because we need one door. We don't want a lot of waste. If you have everything with a bigger production partner, maybe they can use our waste for someone else so that you have to buy less material and produce less material."
